The University of St Andrews invites applications for participation in the the Global Fellowship Scheme.
About the program.
Applicants to the Global Fellowship Scheme should be recognised as significant scholars in their field or emerging leaders who have made a contribution to original research that extends the frontier of knowledge. Global Fellows are expected to hold an established academic position.
Global Fellows will be expected to engage virtually with students and colleagues throughout the 2025-2026 academic year, and participate in one visit of up to four weeks between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2026.
Applicants not available during this time should consider applying in a future round of the scheme.
The University provides all Global Fellows with:
- a stipend of £1000 per 28 day visit (or per day sum for shorter visits)
- self-catered accommodation in a one bedroom apartment or equivalent
- return airfare in economy class, booked by the University
- airport transfers to and from St Andrews
- access to University IT and library facilities
Eligibility
Candidates must have completed a PhD degree or equivalent before submitting an application to the scheme.
Candidates must also be based outside the UK and be employed in a university, research institute or similar.

Before applying, applicants are encouraged to identify shared research interests and alignment with their proposed host School. They may also wish to contact St Andrews academics to discuss the proposed collaboration and Global Fellowship application.
