The Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Ukraine invites to the presentation of the book “LUIS DE GÓNGORA. Selected poems”

Dear colleagues!

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Ukraine, with the organisational assistance of the Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions (GDIP), invites you to the presentation of the book “LUIS DE GÓNGORA. Selected poems”.

The event will take place on March 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Media Center of SE “GDIP” at the address: Kyiv, 6-A Pyrohova str.

The event will be held combined format: online and offline.

Luis de Góngora is one of the most prominent representatives of Spanish Baroque literature. The collection includes genres common in the poetry of that time giving an idea of the writer’s versification skills and the variety of poetic forms of baroque lyrics. The publication is designed for a wide range of poetry fans, and the presence of two texts of each poem — the original and the Ukrainian translation — makes it useful for literary critics, teachers, philology students, and schoolchildren studying Spanish.

• Pavlo Kryvonos, Director-General of SE “GDIP”;
• Serhii Borshchevskyi, writer, diplomat, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy;
• Javier Fuentes Leja, adviser of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Ukraine.

• Olena O’Lear, poet, translator, Candidate of Philological Sciences (PhD), laureate of the H. Kochur and M. Rylskyi awards of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine;
• Yurii Buriak, poet, translator, publisher, laureate of T. Shevchenko National Prize;
• Yurii Kovbasenko, president of the Ukrainian Association of Teachers of Foreign Literature, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, professor, author of textbooks on foreign literature;
• Svitlana Diachok, academic secretary of the Ukrainian Association of Teachers of Foreign Literature, Candidate of Philological Sciences (PhD), co-author of textbooks on foreign literature.

Language of the event: Ukrainian with simultaneous translation into English.
