BUP’s ‘CoMaDe Winter School – Science on the Island’

An opportunity to participate in the ‘CoMaDe Winter School – Science on the Island’, organized by The Baltic University Programme (BUP) for Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students from universities participating in The Baltic University Programme (BUP). Students and PhD students from all educational programmes are invited to participate. No prior experience in the field of Baltic Sea ecology is required.

The winter school will take place 31 January – 6 February 2027, on the island of Gotland, Sweden, at Uppsala University’s Gotland campus.

The winter school is dedicated to exploring the past, present, and possible future of the Baltic Sea coast. As part of the programme, participants will examine the interaction between humans and the coastal environment, current challenges to the sustainable development of coastal areas, and possible approaches to addressing them.

The programme includes field research, excursions, interactive seminars, and meetings with representatives from various academic and professional fields. Participants will have the opportunity to apply interdisciplinary approaches, combining methods from the natural and social sciences.

Practical Information

The winter school is free of charge and will take place on the island of Gotland, Sweden. Participants are responsible for covering their own travel expenses to and from Visby (Gotland).
