NADIYA Research Fellowships Program in France

The French Embassy in Ukraine, in collaboration with the network of French engineering schools (CDEFI), announces a call for applications for scholarships for Ukrainian researchers under the NADIYA Research Fellowships program. The program aims to support Ukrainian scientists and facilitate their integration into the European Research Area.

Duration and Location:

  • From 2 weeks to 6 months in 2025.
  • Leading research centers in France from the list of recommended institutions.
  • Up to 15 scholarships of variable duration.

Research Fields (2025):

  • Materials Science and Engineering: Nanotechnology, new composite materials.
  • Biotechnology and Bioengineering: Applications in medicine, agribusiness, and environmental science.
  • Geosciences and Environment: Resource management, ecological restoration.
  • Sustainable Development and Energy Transition: Renewable energy sources, energy conservation.
  • Agronomy and Veterinary Science: Sustainable agriculture, animal health.
  • Innovative Technologies and Civil Engineering (with a focus on aeronautics).

Fellowship Conditions:

  • Monthly stipend: €1704 for PhD/early-career researchers, €2055 for senior researchers.
  • Accommodation provided.
  • Coverage of round-trip travel expenses and insurance.
  • The scholarship is co-financed by the host French engineering school.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ukrainian citizenship and permanent residence in Ukraine.
  • Proficiency in English (knowledge of French is not required).
  • PhD degree or PhD candidate status.
  • Employment at a recognized Ukrainian academic or research institution (confirmed by an official letter from the institution).
  • Clearly defined research project within the specified research fields.
  • Availability to participate in the program during 2025.
  • Compliance with Ukrainian legal provisions, including martial law regulations.

Applications will be evaluated by the host French engineering schools based on scientific quality and project relevance. Selection results will be announced by early June 2025.

Supporting documents for application:

  • A research project proposal outlining the candidate’s work plan during their stay in France.
  • The names of the host laboratories or research teams the candidate is interested in joining (up to three choices from the attached list).
  • A detailed CV in English.
  • An affiliation letter from a recognized research institution in Ukraine (e.g., an official statement from the institution confirming the candidate’s current position).
  • Completion of the online application form.
