Call for Applications: Online Scholarships for Summer Term 2027 “Competence Network of Urban Transformation and Resilience” under the DAAD Programme “German-Ukrainian University Network”

Applications are open for online scholarships within the international project “Competence Network of Urban Transformation and Resilience” under the DAAD Programme “German-Ukrainian University Network” for the summer semester 2027.

The project is organized by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in cooperation with partner universities: OSACEA, O.M. Beketov NUUE, NUKAI, LPNU, and TSUK.

1. Purpose & Scholarship Benefits

• Purpose: To support qualified students and promote academic and scientific cooperation.
• Scholarship Funding: A monthly scholarship rate of €333.00 according to applicable DAAD rates for the project.
• Academic Obligations: Scholarship holders are required to participate in courses of the Competence Network of Urban Transformation and Resilience (CNUTR) totaling 20 ECTS (comprising an urban design class/studio, seminar, and lecture). Awardees must regularly document project progress and submit a brief final report after completion.

2. Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must be enrolled or employed at a partner university of the “Competence Network of Urban Transformation and Resilience” project.
• Proven interest or engagement in urban transformation, sustainability, and resilience research.
• Good command of English to actively participate in international teaching and research activities.
• Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, joint projects, workshops, or mobility activities within the network.

3. Application Documents

A complete application must include the following:

• Curriculum Vitae (CV) – in English;
• Portfolio with examples of academic or scientific work;
• Letter of Motivation for participation in the project – in English;
• Letter of Motivation for the DAAD scholarship – in English;
• Written Explanation of financial need.

4. Selection Criteria

The selection committee evaluates applications based on an overall assessment, considering:

• Subject-specific qualification in urban planning / urban design;
• Academic qualification and study progress;
• Quality of the portfolio;
• English language proficiency.
