The Competence Network Interdisciplinary Ukrainian Studies invites applications for 9 on-site research fellowships at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) for the winter term 2026/27.
The fellowship theme is: ʼTransitional Justice in Ukraine: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Accountability, Memory, Democratic Renewal and Reconstruction. ʼ
The fellowships support innovative research on Ukraine across disciplines, including history, cultural studies, social sciences, economics, legal studies, conflict studies, science and technology studies, media studies, and related fields.
Fellows will be based at KIU, at European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), engage in academic exchange with KIU partner institutions, and contribute to the research environment through presentations, colloquia, and public events.
Fellowship period: 1 October – 31 December 2026
Monthly stipend: €2,000–€2,300. Travel allowance: up to €600.
Location: European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder), the Federal Republic of Germany.
Application deadline: 5 July 2026.
Applications are open to postdoctoral researchers and scholars at all career stages after the completion of their doctorate.
