The participation in the Summer school at Viadrina European University

Mobility opportunity for the students of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv!

Viadrina European University invited to participate in the Summer School “The European System of Human Rights Protection – Council of Europe, EU, OSCE,” which is going to take place from 6 to 17 July 2026 in Frankfurt (Oder), a city close to Berlin on the German-Polish border.

In terms of content, the Summer school offers in-depth insights into the functioning of the European system of human rights protection, covering the Council of Europe, the EU and the OSCE. Participants benefit from the expertise of renowned academics and experienced practitioners. The programme combines theory and practice through interactive discussions, workshops and a moot court at the end. Upon successful completion, ten ECTS credits and a corresponding certificate will be awarded. The summer school takes place under the academic direction of Prof. Dr. Carmen Thiele and Prof. Dr. Markus Beham.

For whom? The Summer School is aimed at students with at least a basic understanding of public international law and an interest in human rights protection. The courses will be conducted in English.

The application deadline is 15 April 2026 for students who need a visa, and 30 April 2026 for other students.

The participation fee of €590 includes accommodation and three meals a day for the entire duration of the programme.
