
Freie Universität Berlin announces the call for applications for the Berlin Program for Advanced German and European Studies, an international research program for early-career scholars in the social sciences and humanities.
The program supports research on contemporary Germany and Europe (from the mid-18th century to the present) in fields such as history, political science, sociology, cultural studies, economics, law, literary studies, and related disciplines.
Fellows conduct their own research in Berlin, participate in colloquia, gain access to the university’s research resources, and have the opportunity to collaborate with leading scholars.
Who can apply
- PhD students at the final stage of their dissertation (ABD status);
- Early-career researchers (postdoctoral researchers) who defended their PhD no more than two years ago;
- Research topics must be related to German or European studies;
- Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic preparation and research potential.
What is offered
- A fellowship of up to 12 months in Berlin;
- Participation in the program’s research colloquium;
- Access to the university’s libraries and resources;
- Academic supervision and a network of researchers from around the world.
