COIL “Unite: Tackling Challenges through Interdisciplinary Solutions”

From 23 September to 17 November 2024, the international COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) project “Unite: Tackling Challenges through Interdisciplinary Solutions” took place. The participants of the project included14 students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology, 14 students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and 17 students specializing in Journalism and Media, Communications, Management and Organisation at the Hague University of Applied Sciences (the Netherlands).

The moderators of COIL project from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv were Olga Yashenkova, Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of English Philology and Intercultural Communication of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology, and Anastasiia Pozhar, Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor of the Foreign Languages Department of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law; from the Hague University of Applied Sciences – Claudia Diers-Lienke, Head of Internationalisation at Faculty of Management & Organisation /Global Office, Senior Lecturer in International Communications at the Hague University of Applied Sciences.

The project was aimed at identifying and analysing specific challenges in a variety of

fields related to the conditions of martial law in Ukraine, including law, philology and mass media; promoting interdisciplinary cooperation between participants from different specialties in Ukraine and the Netherlands by forming multidisciplinary teams to discuss and evaluate selected issues; developing teamwork, communication, problem-solving and creativity.

For eight weeks, the students had been working in groups to provide their own solutions to contemporary challenges. By the end of the project, the students had the opportunity to share their vision and solutions to overcome such challenges by presenting their final video projects.
