
The Mieroszewski Center is announcing the call for applications for the Mieroszewski Scholarship Programme Research in Ukraine. The programme is aimed at Ukrainian scholars (Ukrainian citizens) conducting, despite the war, research activities in Ukraine in the fields of history, culture, social sciences and other humanities disciplines.
Research in Ukraine covers a wide range of research topics that aim to deepen the understanding of Polish-Ukrainian interactions and the historical and contemporary challenges of the Eastern European region.
To apply to the programme, applicants must submit a detailed research plan, which will be assessed for academic merit. Recommendations from academic, research, cultural institutions or individuals are also required, as well as documentation of previous research achievements.
The Mieroszewski Centre invites all those interested to apply and take part in the programme, which represents a unique opportunity to develop their research career despite the ongoing war in Ukraine.
What are the conditions for applying?
The scholarship is intended for the implementation of an academic project within the following topics:
- the interplay and interaction of Polish and Ukrainian political thought and historiography
- the struggle of the Russian Empire against the heritage of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth 1772-1917
- Soviet repression in Soviet Ukraine
- political and economic challenges to Polish-Ukrainian relations in the light of Russian aggression
- cultural cooperation between Poland and Ukraine after 1991
- European Union and Euro-Atlantic integration, opportunities and challenges
- Polish contribution to the development of international law
Duration of the fellowship: four months, from 1 August to 30 November 2024
Scholarship amount: PLN 12,000, paid in four tranches of PLN 3,000 each
Application deadline: 30 June 2024
Application: to apply for the scholarship, complete an application form using the application generator available at: stypendium.mieroszewski.pl. The form can be completed in Polish or Ukrainian.
Results and announcement: applicants will be notified of the results of the competition by e-mail by 20 July 2024.
PLEASE NOTE: winners of the 2023 edition cannot apply for participation in this year’s Badaj in Ukraine scholarship programme.
