Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv has become a partner in the international ‘Bridge-Ukraine’ project aimed at developing journalism education

The Government of Norway has approved funding for a new large-scale ‘Bridge-Ukraine’ project to significantly strengthen journalism education in Ukraine.
The project is coordinated by NLA Høgskolen, a member of the European Journalism Training Association (EJTA) (Kristiansand, Norway), in partnership with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Mariupol State University, Sumy State University, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, Uzhhorod National University, and the Swedish Fojo Media Institute. The initiative aims to build digital capacity in journalism and communications education.
The ‘Bridge-Ukraine’ project has received official support from the Ukrainian Commission on Journalistic Ethics, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, and the European Journalism Training Association (EJTA), which in turn will provide consultancy within the framework of the project and disseminate news about the project through its own channels.
The practical implementation of the ‘Bridge-Ukraine’ project involves the development of innovative courses relevant for both students and media professionals, with a particular focus on entrepreneurial journalism and the ethical use of artificial intelligence. The project also includes research, training in the use of digital learning tools, and support for journalism lecturers in providing initial psychosocial support to students affected by the war.
The ‘Bridge-Ukraine’ project is a continuation of the DESTIN project, which was implemented by the Erasmus+ Programme between 2018 and 2022. Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv served as the National Coordinator for the DESTIN project.
