On August 29, Volodymyr Bugrov, Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, met with Olena Lytvynenko, acting Head of the Council of Europe in Ukraine, for solemn signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv within the framework of the project “HELP (Human Rights Education for Lawyers) for Ukraine, including the time of war”.
The project “HELP (Human Rights Education for Lawyers) for Ukraine, including the time of war” is aimed at improving the qualifications of current/future lawyers in Ukraine (judges, prosecutors, lawyers, other court employees and law students) for them to apply effectively European standards in the field of human rights, in particular during the war.
“The Institute of Law of Taras Shevchenko KNU ranks third in Ukraine among educational institutions training specialists in the field of law, so we are extremely interested in cooperation with the HELP project and Council of Europe Office in Ukraine in general,” Volodymyr Bugrov shared his view during the meeting.
Kseniia Smyrnova, Vice-Rector for Education (International Cooperation), emphasized that a number of similar initiatives are already being implemented at the University, and therefore the acquired experience will be a great advantage for the mentioned cooperation.
The parties noted that the signed Memorandum will contribute to better and faster integration of Ukraine into the European Union in the future and will also significantly increase the opportunities for students of Taras Shevchenko KNU to develop within the framework of the HELP project. Colleagues will soon meet in Kyiv for a more detailed discussion of the cooperation strategy.
