Scientific Seminar “Consequences of the War Against Ukraine for International Relations and International Security”: Conclusions

On August 16, 2023, the scientific seminar “Consequences of the War Against Ukraine for International Relations and International Security” was held as part of the implementation of the cooperation project between Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the University of Edinburgh. The online seminar became another event within the framework of the “Laboratory of Geopolitical Relations” which is jointly conducted by the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations (ESIIR) and the School of Social and Political Science (SSPS) of the University of Edinburgh.

As part of the seminar, an extremely intensive and interesting exchange of views took place regarding the consequences of the war for the systemic transformation of international security regimes and political narratives in Europe (Viktor Konstantynov, ESIIR), climate and energy security (Svitlana Andrushchenko, ESIIR), the international system and international order (Mykola Kapitonenko, ESIIR), internal changes in Russia (Luke March, SSPS), climate and energy dynamics (Michael Albert, SSPS), the specifics of the concept of wartime and what is victory in this war (Andrew Hom, SSPS).

The scientific seminar laid the foundations for further cooperation in the field of joint scientific research and conducting such scientific discussions on a regular basis, holding a joint summer school and, in the future, creating a double degree program.
